Thomas Greiner new chairman of the executive board of the international Dussmann Group
11/01/2007 – Peter Dussmann retires from active participation in the day-to-day running of the business
The supervisory board of the Dussmann-Verwaltungs AG has appointed Thomas Greiner as the new chairman of the executive board of the Dussmann Group, which has operations in 26 countries.
The 52-year-old political scientist has already served the company group for more than 10 years. As head of corporate communication he was initially responsible for marketing, as well as press and public relations. Since 2002 he has been chairman of the management board of the Kursana division, which operates 87 facilities for seniors in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and achieved a turnover of 217 million Euro in 2006.
Since 2005 Greiner has been a member of the executive board of the Dussmann Group.
In May 2007 Peter Dussmann, founder and owner of the company group, announced his retirement from day-to-day running of the business after 44 years. "As an active supervisory board chairman, I will continue to support the company in the future. Even if I am less frequently in town than before, Berlin still remains the focus of my life, because it here that I want to make a difference. In particular, the reconstruction of the "Staatsoper Unter den Linden" is dear to my heart."
In addition to executive board members Dr. Wolfram Olschowy (personnel and finance) and Dirk Brouwers (Dussmann Service), the supervisory board has expanded the executive board to include Mr Jörg Braesecke (Kursana) and Axel Gränitz (international).
"Today you can only achieve success as a team," Thomas Greiner explained at the press conference in Berlin. "The expanded executive board provides an experienced member for each business division. Not only in Germany but also world-wide, the Dussmann Group now has huge opportunities. Together with the other members of the executive board and the 50,000 employees I will take up those opportunities", Greiner promised.
