Kursana to become operating company of a new old people’s home in Hamburg-Billstedt

Residents of care facilities for the elderly in Hamburg-Mitte are perfectly satisfied with their living conditions according to a study carried out by Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and the University of Augsburg in 2006.

Residents of Hamburg-Mitte will be able to take advantage of a new care establishment providing excellent facilities from summer 2009 with the opening of the Kursana residence in Hamburg-Billstedt. This will be a home providing full nursing and care facilities and will be able to accommodate 125 people, 103 of whom will be able to have their own room. The building will be constructed on the site where the Sonnenland shopping centre used to be in Hamburg-Kirchsteinbek. The living area on the ground floor with space for 24 people will be tailored to the needs of patients suffereing from dementia and will provide access to a protected garden. A doctors’ practice, a bakery, a kiosk and a hairdressing salon are also planned for the site.
