Vietnam: Clinic Laundry With German Know-How

11/01/2007 – The Dussmann-Group opens an industrial laundry in Vietnam / Investment of about 5.5 millionen Euro

The Dussmann-Group, one of the world`s greatest private multi-service provider, operates in Vietnam since 1995 as a service provider round about buildings. On November 30th, 2006, the Dussmann-Group opened a industrial laundry in the economically upcoming region of the province Binh Duong near to Ho Chi Minh City. The most modern industrial laundry of the country supplies 14 hospitals in the region, one of these hospitals is the biggest hospital of Vietnam with 20 tons of ordinary laundry a day. Up to now the employees of the hospitals had to clean the laundry by themselves, sometimes even with their own hands.

The capital expenditure of the 14,000 m² large area is with about 5.5 million Euro the largest foreign investment of the Dussmann Group so far. The Dussmann Group creates with this project another 65 work places in Vietnam.

During the opening Peter Dussmann, owner and chairman of the supervisory board of the Dussmann Group, was present as well as Wolfgang Clement, the former German Federal Minister for Trade and Industry and member of the supervisory board of the Dussmann Group. Also Dr. Dr. Hein-Peter Seidel, the consul general of Germany in Ho Chin Minh City, and many representatives of the hospitals were present.

"After we already invested in the construction of a central kitchen in the Cho Ray Hospital, the opening of the industrial laundry is the second step to the further development of the Vietnamese health care", Peter Dussmann says, to whom Vietnam is of major concern. "Patients and employees of hospitals will be very satisfied with the new quality of their laundry", Dussmann further says.

The subsidiary company in Vietnam P. Dussmann TNHH will expand their portfolio of the growth market in Vietnam by the industrial laundry and they expect a two-digit sales increase during the next years. In the future the industrial laundry will also offer sterile laundry and hotel laundry.

The subsidiary company in Vietnam P. Dussmann TNHH has 1,400 employees and is the largest caterer in the country: 55,000 meals get prepared for hospitals and companies each day. Only in the biggest hospital in Vietnam, the Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chin Minh City, Dussmann caters for 7,000 patients and employees.

In 1998 the Dussmann Group invested in a new central hospital kitchen in the Cho Ray Hospital, the first one of this kind in Vietnam. In the past the patients were fed by their families. Since then the central kitchen is an excellent referential object in Asia for modern service quality and many delegations of hospital managers regularly come to see it.
