11/01/2006 – Dussmann Group Founds a Joint Venture with the Chinese State Shipping Company COSCO
The Dussmann Group, Berlin based service provider, has founded a joint venture company together with the Chinese state shipping company COSCO (China Ocean Shipping (Group) Company) and the private project development company TRIO. The Dussmann Property Management (Qingdao) Co. Ltd is based in the Eastern Chinese city of Qingdao on the Yellow Sea, the site of the Olympic sailing regatta 2008. Peter Dussmann, proprietor and chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Dussmann Group, has taken on the position of chairman of the joint venture's Supervisory Board.
As from the beginning of 2007, the joint venture will take on the Facility Management in new buildings, the office complex COSCO Towers and a conference and shopping center in Qingdao and plans to extend this cooperation to the COSCO GROUP and its partners in the future.
For the Dussmann Group, which operates in 27 countries, China is becoming one of the largest growing markets. Having operated in the People's Republic of China and the special economic zone of Hong Kong since 1995, the company has approximately 3,000 employees in many different services. With eight subsidiaries in China, the Dussmann Group works for companies such as PEPSI and BASF.
With 640 ships, COSCO GROUP is the second larges container shipping company worldwide and the Chinese market leader. State-owned companies like COSCO play a central role in the development of the Chinese national economy. "I prefer the Germans as business partners because they deliver perfect work", the Vice President of COSCO, Prof. Jung Song, explains his choice of the Dussmann Group. "China needs companies like Dussmann to raise the standards of management and management processes", he continues.
Under the brand name, Dussmann Service, the Dussmann Group offers the whole range of facility services in 27 countries with over 50,000 employees: Technical Services, Catering, Security and Reception Services, Cleaning, Commercial Management and Energy Management. Its second largest company division Kursana provides nursing and care to 10,500 seniors. The Dussmann Group also runs the KulturKaufhaus in Berlin.
